Get Some Funky Shoes

Making sure that you have the right shoes for the right occasion is important to many people. Not only do you have to have the right style, you need to also have the right color! This is something that a lot of people look past. In fact, black and dark brown shoes are the most commonly bought, simply because they go with everything. If you are looking for something a little more unique, all you have to do is change it up a little. Either get a new style or find a new color.

If you are planning a great date, try matching your shoes to your new dress. Where you might normally wear a pair of black pumps, see if you can find something a little more flashy. Even if you don’t feel ready to pull off those great hot pink ones you saw in the shop window, you may want to try something like a black with pink accents. If you are feeling daring, see what you can find to match your dress. If your dress has polka dots, for example, see if you can find spotted heels to go with it.

Even if you don’t feel like you are ready to take the plunge and go all out with your shoe color choices, it doesn’t hurt to make a few small changes. Instead of black, pick out a pair of navy blue. Small steps are better than no steps at all. When looking for new shoes, don’t just pass up the funky ones you liked because you don’t have anything to wear them with. Grab those shoes and plan an outfit around them. It’s fun to change-up your style once in a while! Next time you head out shoe shopping, find something different and fun to add to your cart.

  • Summer to many people means a fun, new wardrobe full of breezy tops and short shorts. But in a faltering economy the joy of summer is drained with few finances. Now there’s an easy way to make extra cash with little effort. All is not lost. Your shopping spree awaits.

Everyone has old gold lying around, lost and forgotten. Maybe it’s the friendship ring from a childhood friendship, your son’s old coin collection, or a hideous heirloom. The economy is now in a slump, and the only thing that goes up when the economy is down is precious metals. A great way to make easy cash is to get cash for gold. There are numerous online buyers who will welcome your gold with open arms, and in exchange, pay you a lot more than you thought your gold was worth.

Most buyers will request that you fill out an online form, and they will send you a package in the mail. After that, you can sell scrap gold in no time at all. All you have to do is send back a form, along with your gold, and you’ll receive a check in the mail. The only research you have to do is to ensure that they are a veritable company, and that you will have your gold returned to you if you are not happy with the sum they send. Once you send out your gold, your job is done. You’re now free to shop!

  • It’s no secret that homesickness can be rough. It’s not fun to deal with, and it’s not fun for the people you leave behind, either. One of the best ways to help with that is to call and email a lot – but don’t forget that postcards can help, too. It’s not just the act of sending and receiving them with heartfelt notes on the back, but also the chance for you to see your home in pictures and the people you left there to see where you’re making a new home. Some of the pictures on postcards are very beautiful, and you can also have companies make them with sayings and pictures that you want to use.

Sending personalized postcards back home so that your family can see your house and your children is a great way to help you all stay connected. It’s one of the best ways to show each other the value of family and caring about more in life than just yourself. You can also teach your children about their heritage and the people in their family that they really haven’t met or may not remember or know much about. Keep those people in your heart and mind, and they’ll always feel as though they’re close to you – even when many miles separate you.

Send postcards, send letters, send emails, and call. Even if you correspond a lot, it’s important to be able to hear your family members’ voices, too. That may comfort you in a way that other things just can’t. When you aren’t able to talk to your family, get out the postcards they’ve sent you. Save them all, and look through them if you feel alone or like you miss home too much. It can help you get through a difficult time and on to happier days.

  • A lot of the newer pieces of furniture don’t look too appealing to me. I prefer to have my furniture with a certain amount of character and will not be out of date next year. Using an interior design firm that understands your tastes and not just the latest fads will help in the design and look of your home.  I have friends that have enlisted the services of a local interior designer only to be talked into some interesting ideas that they were not totally in love with and they are regretting the decision a year later.  I believe old fashion furniture is more popular than it use to be. Some furniture makers have just became too artsy in their designs. I see some furniture that looks like it is for a future time and place and not for the homes of today. I’m sure people would not make this furniture if it wasn’t selling, so someone out there likes to buy it.  I like the old fashion ways of doing things and the way old fashion things look. The furniture in our homes now, is just one example of what makes a country person different from the city slickers; who like their modern furniture. I know some households have a couch and chair set; that you can’t even really sit on. If I am going to have a couch or any chairs in my home, it’s going to be the kind you can sit and take naps in and not to have for just looks.

  • Getting your first home

When my wife and I were first married we had to rent a small one bedroom apartment since we were just out of college and starting our careers. At first having a mortgage payment felt a little overwhelming but after you have your first home and understand the long term benefits then it is well worth it. We have since bought and sold a few homes and now are settling in a new home with some great features. We have relatives that are just recently married and are thinking about renting or buying a new home. I explained that if they can afford the house payment then buying is much better than renting. With buying your home you are building up equity where as renting your money accrues towards nothing. There are various tax benefits with purchasing your own home as well. I told them to compare mortgages and find out much home that they could comfortably afford and then make their decision on how much they would have to pay in rent. Home ownership is something that cannot be taken lightly and must be entered into with a lot of research and due diligence. Many first time home buyers got sucked into sub-prime loans that were short term low interest payments and then escalated after a few years. My recommendation is to always work with your local bank as they are more familiar with the housing market and can help you better plan your budget without over extending your cash flow.
The real estate is up and down in various markets depending on what reports you read. Many of the Southern states are feeling the effects of the housing pinch. Even in other southern areas the real estate market you can find some great investment deals in real estate that would provide a great area to raise a family and provide access to many outdoor activities as well big city living.

  • My Mom is so Upset

I keep telling her that it’ll be OK, but she just can’t get over the fact that my little sister, her baby, is moving out. She’s finally making enough money to afford her own place, and she’s found the perfect little apartment. To show everyone how responsible she is, she even went out and purchased a good renters insurance policy for “just in case.”

My mom keeps talking about how she’s worried about the crime rate in the new neighborhood or how she might be too lonely. The entire problem is that Mom just doesn’t want to let go of her last child. We’ve all agreed that we need to invite her over more often to give little sis’ a break now and then. As all the kids have grown up and moved out, we’ve kind of neglected mom a little bit. Oh, we’re always there for holidays, but we need to be there day-to-day a little bit more.

I’m going to try to talk mom into taking a class or joining a club, too. Maybe if she got out and had more of her own life, it would make her a little less lonely. She’s been a great mom and dedicated her life to us. It’s definitely time that she had a chance to live a little. I can’t picture her finding a boyfriend, but I’d be OK with that, too. Dad’s been gone so long that she might even be open to the idea if the right man came along.

We’re all going over this weekend to help my sister pack up and move. I’m planning on ordering some Chinese takeout and making a party out of it. Maybe I’ll even talk mom into coming back here for the night so that the house doesn’t feel so empty right away.

  • If you like most people here in the States and abroad the uncertain financial times have people starting to think about their purchases and what is needed compared to what is wanted. In order to maximize you holiday dollars I would recommend using some of the super ecommerce search engines like Shopping.com and Dealtime.co.uk. They offer a huge selection of items ranging from electronics to clothing to jewelry. These sites can take some of the legwork out of researching your purchase and provides a comprehensive list of prices and vendors that you can choose from to purchase your gifts. For example if you are looking Cheap Digital Cameras you can simply type that into the search box and you will get back prices and info on the latest models. You can even find great prices on the popular Nikon Coolpix touchscreen model that everyone is talking about.

  • Friends and Family Are Alike

Many of us have moved away from home and to a new country to try to make our dreams come true. While this is our choice and we do everything to make sure we get to experience what we have moved so far to achieve, home is still in our thoughts. Even in the middle of a busy schedule we often end up thinking about what the situation would have been like if we were surrounded by family and how much fun it would be. This feeling of home sickness is common among many, but there are things you can do to make yourself feel a lot better.

One of the many ways to remember home and have a great time is by putting together a party for your friends and make it a family style one. Do something that you and your family usually do when you are back visiting and your friends will get to see the way you live. Home style cooking and family style gathering with your friends will surely help you snap out of the sadness you are feeling and you will realize that your friends are just as close as your family. Make it something fun and even put together a costume party where your friends can dress up to have an even more memorable time. Wear Halloween costumes or make up your own, the choice is yours.

It’s not easy being away from home especially for the first few years. Feeling the need to go back home is not always an option, so make the most with the loving friends around you. Many of your friends go through similar situation and they will be able to give you ideas on how you can feel more at home, even when you are away from home. So do not hesitate to ask people who might know how to help.
